Mayme A. Clayton Library, a division of Western States Black Research and Education Center (WSBREC) maintains the largest and most substantial collection of rare books, documents, films, music, photographs and memorabilia in the Western United States.
The Clayton Library's mission is to collect, preserve and perpetuate the unique history and cultural heritage of Americans of African descent. WSBREC's goal is to establish the Mayme A. Clayton Library & Cultural Center in Los Angeles as a world-class, library-based institution dedicated to black intelligence and creativity for all people.
